JOU 1 SOU 17

Hey friend, I’m John Ortberg and I’m very excited to embark on this journey with you called HOME.

We’re learning how to be at home with the Father at all times, in all circumstances. And who better to learn this from than the example set forth by Jesus himself? When He was on earth, Jesus was constantly engaging in activities that brought Him closer to the Father, and we can engage in the same practices.

This content was derived from the brilliant work of Dallas Willard in his book called, “The Spirit of the Disciplines.” I’m honored to get to talk about it with you. Not only was Dallas an incredibly author, scholar, and highly regarded theologian, he was also a dear friend of mine. My prayer is that this content will bring you closer to the Lord and that Dallas’ legacy would live on through it.

As you go through this Plan, just remember this: We can be at home with the heavenly Father. We can arrange our lives around the activities that are most important to God. And we can receive power from Him, just like Jesus did. Welcome home.

Check out today’s video for the series intro. I’m excited to be on this journey together!

Today’s invitation:

Throughout this series, I’ll use this section to share a little invitation for the day to help you put these disciplines into practice. I’ll provide suggestions for practical application and thoughts around how to apply these disciplines to your everyday life.

For today, though, just chew on this: How might we arrange (or rearrange) our lives to become the person God made us to be? What disciplines do you feel are lacking in your life today? Ask God to give you eyes to see, and journey with us through Home.
