Debt: A Biblical Formula for Paying It Off Miraculously FastEgzanp
Day 1: Recognizing What's In Your Hand
In this devotional, we will be examining one of the most miraculous debt payoff stories ever.
In 2 Kings 4, we see Elisha and a widow who didn't think she had much—just a small jar of oil—certainly not enough to ever pay off the debt that she owed. But isn't it amazing that our Heavenly Father can take what seems insignificant to us and use it for something extraordinary?
The talents, resources, and gifts you possess, no matter how small, are blessings from God. Sometimes, we're quick to overlook what we have in our house (or in our hand) and underestimate their worth. But remember, friend, we serve the God who loves taking the tiny and insignificant things and doing the miraculous with them.
So my question to you is, what do you have in your house? What little thing might God be highlighting to you right now? It will likely be something that will certainly never be enough in the natural realm, but just like the loaves and fishes, there is no limit to what God can do with something that "isn't enough."
If you are facing a mountain of debt like this widow, what is something you could do to earn a few extra bucks this month to begin paying it down? What expenses could you cut out to begin paying a little extra towards your debt? Spend some time today prayerfully asking this question and asking God what you need to know.
And when He gives you that little nudge or idea (that surely is going to feel like it will never be enough), run with it!
Let’s Pray:
God, today I pray that you reveal to me what is "in my house." I know that it is your desire for me to be free from all forms of bondage, including debt. Therefore, I pray that like this widow, you would do the miraculous in my financial life. And today, I pray that you would begin showing me the simple, practical steps I should begin taking.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
