GOD ANOINTS SOUND FOLLOWERSHIP (2)
One of the Kingdom principles is followership. Church membership is followership. That you are attending a church does not mean you are a member of that church. Are you a follower of the church – the doctrine, philosophy, teaching, principles of the church, standards as well as the leader? This is a basic understanding. Jesus didn’t call us to membership, He called us to followership. He says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men (Mat. 4:19).” It was after the disciples followed Him that the anointing came upon them. Those that went back never received the anointing.
When a person comes to church, he must settle the following questions: Is this the right church for me? Who should I follow here? What should I follow? What’s the teaching? What’s the doctrine? The Bible says, “Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation (Heb. 13:7).” It means you are not to follow your pastor’s fashion or his tailor but his faith. If his faith rubs off on your spirit, you will have the same kind of faith that is driving his assignment in your own family, business, career, academics, and every facet of your life, regardless of the level of life you are operating in.
The secret of the success of the ministry of Jesus was that He followed His Leader. Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise (Joh. 5:19).” Jesus led Himself before the Holy Spirit came. However, when the Spirit came, He understood and acknowledged the Holy Spirit as the Leader and the Spirit led Him into the wilderness according to God’s plan, to be tempted by the devil.
PRAYER: Holy Spirit, show me the way to right and sound followership. I pray that I will not miss everything that accompanies sound followership in Jesus’ name. Amen!
