Authority in Christ

By Jesaiah Harris

Luke 10:19

19 “Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.”

We walk in a complete authority over the enemy given to us through Christ Jesus.

It is through the authority of Jesus Christ that the power of God flows through us to magnify the Father and advance His kingdom. Christ died for us and conquered the power of sin. We were set free from darkness and as we now walk in the light, we walk with a new authority.

In Luke 10:17, we see the disciples returning to Jesus, after being sent ahead of Him, joyed and excited that at the name of Jesus even demons would obey them. Jesus goes on in verse 19 “Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.” He gives us the authority over all works of the enemy and promises a great victory. This is good news for believers. The powers of the enemy will not and cannot prevail in the end against the children of God, Christ has won the victory (1 Corinthians 15:57).

One way we can walk in this authority is through listening to the Holy Spirit and realising that the same spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us (Romans 8:11). When we recognise that the spirit of the living God is alive in us, than no works of the enemy can prevail against us. Next time you are in prayer, carry that authority in the spirit that darkness WILL flee, sickness WILL be healed, and people WILL be set free in the name of Jesus. Know that the bible says, “…whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Mathew 18:18). These things are made possible because we are seated in heavenly places with Christ (Ephesians 2:6), and God has put all things under the authority of Christ and made Him head over all things for the benefit of the Church (Ephesians 1:22).

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for Your sacrifice, sending Your Son to die on the cross for our sins. I pray that I have a fresh revelation of the authority I carry in Christ Jesus. Lord, would You fill me up again with Your Holy Spirit, let it lead me and guide me through my every step. Would Your kingdom come and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
