I Am Rahab: How to Unlock Your True IdentityEgzanp
Rahab’s Faith
By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. Hebrews 11:31 (NKJV)
Rahab's faith in God first came by hearing the testimonies of the mighty works of God (Romans 10:17; Joshua 2:9-11). Before she could unlock her true identity, she first discovered or learned about the God of Israel. Joshua 2:9-11(NLT) says, “I know the LORD has given you this land,” she told them. “We are all afraid of you. Everyone in the land is living in terror. For we have heard how the LORD made a dry path for you through the Red Sea when you left Egypt. And we know what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings east of the Jordan River, whose people you completely destroyed. No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the LORD your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below.
Did you notice that those testimonies focused on God’s mighty works of deliverance? Rahab heard that God did this and that for the Israelites. She heard that God is the waymaker and miracle worker. Rahab heard that God gave the Israelites victory. Then she believed in her heart that the God of Israel is the supreme God. In her oppression, controlled by lust, Rahab had just enough faith to believe the God of Israel was above all gods, and her adventure of faith began.
What we hear, how we hear, and how we respond to what we know about God makes a difference on the journey to unlocking or manifesting our true identity as joint heirs with Christ, members of the lineage of Jesus (Luke 8:4-18; Romans 8:17-19).
Are you hearing testimonies of what God has done and can do? God is still doing wonders today, healing the sick, and delivering people from demonic oppression and possession so they can manifest their true identity as children of the living God. The Bible is a book of testimonies that stirs the faith we need to establish God’s will in our lives.
Today, I invite you to take a moment to study Mark 9:22-29, Mark 5:1-10, and Luke 13:10-17. Some individuals in those scriptures lost their minds, and all lost control of their bodies. Their identities were trapped until they encountered Jesus, the Word of God. It’s your turn to have an encounter with the Word of God.
