Attributes of Love by MOPS InternationalEgzanp
Love Never Fails
Have you ever felt like God failed you? That’s a big question. Have you prayed, hoped and longed for something that never came to pass? Big things, like a restored marriage, healing, relationships, finances, motherhood?
During one of the most challenging seasons of my life, I distinctly remember thinking that God had failed me. He must have. Because a good and loving God would not allow something like this happen to me. If He had been paying attention, this never would have happened. And as I sat in that season of hurt and grief, I found myself asking one overwhelming question: “Are You who You say You are?” Painful seasons have a way of drawing us into their tunnel of confusion. Thoughts and emotions run wild, and before we know it, we’re questioning everything we know is true.
I imagine you’ve been there, or maybe you’re there now, facing an impossible mountain of grief, confusion, complacency, or hurt. You may be wondering how anything could ever be made right again. Let me invite you back into a place of simplicity, to a wide place, where peace can flow. Where you can set down the racing thoughts that accompany grief, anxiety, pain, and hard times. A place where you can abandon the need to figure it all out – where Jesus can be enough. Do you remember it? The place where He is Lord? Where He is the all-sufficient provider? Not only does Jesus welcome us in times of trouble, He pulls us close.
Do you know what has carried me through? The overwhelming truth that I know in the deepest parts of my soul the one truth that I cannot escape: That no matter what happens, Jesus is Lord. He is who He says He is. And He is good.
Jesus never fails and the love of Jesus never fails. When death comes like a thief, love never fails. When hurt and grief are overwhelming, love never fails. When miscarriages shatter our dreams, love never fails. When marriages crumble, love never fails. And my friend, when it seems like nothing will ever be made right again, love never fails.
There will be questions, there will be confusion. But there is an unending source of peace offered to you through Jesus. There is the balm of time that allows His presence to sink into even the deepest, most painful wounds.
Consider this:
As you travel this road, remember what Psalm 139 promises: God hems you in—behind and before—with the abiding love of Jesus. Let that truth create in you a fresh, renewed and joyful spirit.

The kind of love Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 13 is hard to imagine — because it is perfect, and we are not. The best way to understand each of these attributes is to see how they are lived out in the life of Jesus. Throughout this study we will take a look at how Jesus put love into action, and how we should fashion our lives after His example.
