Today’s reading once again points to the luxurious lifestyle of the people. Instead of feasting, the prophet warns that they should be preparing for the coming destruction.

[The LORD says:] “You have turned justice into poison, and right into wrong.”

Reflect

How is the luxurious lifestyle of the people described? What will happen to them? What does God despise? How does Amos denounce the injustice that is taking place? How would you respond if you heard someone preach such a message today? Where do you see examples of true justice?

Pray

Sovereign God, teach me the way of Your truth and show me where I can turn what is wrong into what is right. Open my eyes to injustice and help me be an instrument of Your healing, mercy and love. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
