Source of Life: A 3-Day Devotional With Cade ThompsonEgzanp
DAY 1 - BROKEN VESSELS
When I wrote my song Source of Life, I was honestly feeling pretty tired, pretty lonely, and pretty exhausted from the past season I had just been walking through. It was an emptiness that I had not experienced before. I remember at that moment feeling like I had no more words left to say. I didn’t even have any words to pray. This season made me think more deeply about what so many of us are feeling on a day-to-day basis. Is that you today? Have you found yourself walking through life on your own strength? Are you exhausted from the striving?
Take a moment and begin to think about the past season of your life. What are areas in your life that you’ve tried to go through on your own strength? Have you been going through the motions to finish each day just to do it again the next? Are you holding onto something that you just can’t seem to give up to God? Are you striving for things that leave you empty? Are you exhausted from trying to meet everyone else’s needs? Do you try to do life without letting anyone in on the fact that you are struggling?
I have good news for you today, there is hope for you and me. These are things Jesus cares deeply about! Jesus promises freedom from all of this when we give it all to God and let Him carry our burdens.
I want to encourage you today to pay attention to what you are paying attention to and take some time to process what you’ve been walking through in life lately. Process how you have been coping with it all. My prayer for you today is that you can fully realize that you don’t have to walk through life on your own strength.
PRAYER: "Dear God, here I am today, I come to you with my brokenness, with my hurt, with my pain, and with my past. I am trusting that my life is better in your hands than it could ever be in mine. I ask that you would fill me up with rest in exchange for the weight that I’ve been holding onto. Today I let go and I give it all to you. Amen."
