The Other Three Sixteens: Finding God's Love in ScriptureEgzanp
Joel 3:16 (NIV) - “The Lord will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the heavens will tremble. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.”
Joel 3:16 paints a picture of a mighty God with unfathomable power. His voice roars and the greatness of it shakes the earth. It reminds us of the many characteristics of God that make Him so great! The Lord is compassionate and kind, but He is also powerful and uncontainable. His very worlds shake the heavens and the earth. He invokes a holy fear among all those who understand His strength and sovereignty. Yet, His compassion and kindness are from His love.
As the earth shakes with the power of His voice, His hand is on His sons and daughters. God is a refuge, a safe space. He is strong enough to withstand and overcome any adversity. We no longer have to fear, because Mighty God loves and cares for us.
God’s power goes hand-in-hand with His compassion. Praise be to the Lord who is sovereign and good, mighty and caring. His love is stronger than the dangers of our world, and He is powerful enough to be the most secure refuge, protecting His beloved children.
