Faith and the Fear of the Lord

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10, NIV)

To fear the Lord is to respect Him with reverence and honor, to love Him above all else, to be in awe so much that you wouldn’t choose to veer off His pathway for anything. The reward for fearing the Lord is that you will be crowned with wisdom and knowledge. Now that is a real faith-lifter! Clearly, wisdom is the principal value. I love the way God’s benefits all intertwine. With this wisdom you will be able to choose the right road, seek justice, and decide what is good and fair because wisdom will penetrate deep within and knowledge will become a good friend to your soul. Sound judgment will stand guard over you, and understanding will watch over you as the Lord promised. (Proverbs 2:9-11, Voice).

Patience can be described as being self-controlled or good natured when inconvenienced or having to wait for someone or something. Patience calls for endurance while putting others first. Faith requires patience. The promises of God do not always come according to our calendar or on our expected time. Keep doing what you are doing with all diligence and as unto the Lord, and He will reward your faith and patience. God holds the circle of time in His hands and in time and process, He is building His character in you.

The fear of the Lord (deep reverential respect) and faith are a powerful combination.
