Remember to Praise Him
Sing praise to the Lord, you His godly ones, and give thanks to His holy name. –Psalm 30:4
In concluding His pattern for prayer, Jesus reminds us to always exalt God, saying, “Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen” (Matthew 6:13). This is a declaration recognizing the Lord’s supremacy and sovereignty. We give Him thanks, expressing all the ways He has been faithful to care for us. We declare our gratefulness that He is powerful, all- knowing, ever present, loves us unconditionally, and is always willing to lead us. And we give Him all the honor and glory for our successes.
This is His due as our God, but it is also vital to our well- being. Praise reminds us of our dependence upon Him, and the fact that no matter what issue we’re facing, He can lead us to triumph in it. In fact, the Father already knows everything we need, and He is already at work delivering us. And if we respond with faith and trust in Him, the obstacles we face will result in our blessing and edification.
Therefore, like the apostle Paul, we can and should declare: “Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). So take time to praise Him today!
Jesus, I praise You, recognizing Your supremacy and sovereignty and how You always provide what’s best. Amen.
My hope is in Jesus because He deserves my praise!
