psalm VIII
Tuin: Winchester
1Lord o’ us a’, hoo is Thy name
On hie exaltit far,
That has Thy glory set abune
The yontmaist lemin’ star!
2Frae oot the moo’ o’ bairnies sma’
Thou ’stablishit Thy micht,
That vengefu’ men and faeman a’
Sood quaten at the sicht.
3Gin to the lift I heist my e’en —
The wark o’ Thine ain haun’ —
Whaur mune and starnies a’ are seen,
Set there by Thy commaun’;
4Then, what is man, I’m fain to speir,
That Thou heeds him ava,
Or son o’ man, that Thou sae near
To him sood coothy draw?
5For, but a kennin’ laigher Thou
Than God himsel’ him made;
A croon o’ glory on his broo
And gude‐gree Thou has laid.
6Laird owre Thy warks Thou made him be,
Put a’ thing ’naith his feet —
7A’ sheep and owsen, ay, and sae
The beasts that fend for meat;
8Birds o’ the air, a’ fish whause hame
Is in the troghs o’ sea.
9Lord o’ us a’, hoo is Thy name
Exaltit up on hie!
