Walking With God

दिन 1 का 5

Direction, action, Person

Before words like sanctification or discipleship described the Christian life, “walking with God” was the Bible’s preferred metaphor. “Enoch walked faithfully with God” (Genesis 5:22). “Noah . . . walked faithfully with God” (Genesis 6:9). “The Lord appeared to [Abraham] and said, ‘I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully’” (Genesis 17:1). “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8). When Jesus, who was God walking on our earth, wanted people to become believers, he most commonly invited, “Follow me,” which is another way of saying, “Walk with God.”

Why would walking be the number-one way to describe our spiritual lives? I can think of three reasons, which I’m excited to explain to you in the coming devotions. For now, here’s a quick summary to get your gears turning: To walk with God, you have to be moving in God’s direction, take steps or take personal action, and be blessed to be accompanied by a certain Person.

Read those last three sentences again. They matter more than almost anything else in your life. Direction, action, Person. That’s what it means to walk with God.
