Day 7: Standing Firm

What a gift it is to know you’re one of God’s children. What a gift it is to know that you have been grafted into God’s family for all eternity, and what a gift it is to know we’ve been called to stand firm in our faith on behalf of the Kingdom.

This journey on earth is one that is full of trials and tribulation. That is a promise found in Scripture. Yet, while we are given that promise, we are also given the promise that our God is with us and for us, even in the trials and tribulations we’ll face.

Standing firm in your faith will often look like you’re the standout in the room, but know this to be true; you’re not alone in these moments. You’re covered, protected, and led by God Almighty.

As culture changes, God does not. His Word is still infallible. His truth will withstand any storm. The church will outlast whatever persecution comes its way. Deception will never have the final say.

I pray your heart has been encouraged to dig your heels in where God has you, to be the salt of the earth, and the light of the world. I pray that you’ve been reminded, enlightened, and stirred up to sit with God’s Word and to write it into the depths of your heart.

Remember the great commission (Matthew 28:16-20) each day as you head out into the world. Remember the armor that the Lord has given us (Ephesians 6:10-18). Cling to the leading of the Holy Spirit and discern where there is error.

Hold all things up to scripture and take all your thoughts captive (2 Corinthians 10:5).Seek to hold fast to God’s standard of love and never sidestep truth because of fear of man (1 John 4:6).

Know that it was not by accident that you’re living in this generation. God is not surprised by the deception taking place, and He has prepared His people for this. It was by God’s perfect provision, grace, and mercy that you are here to know Him and make Him known.

Be bold, be steadfast, and stand firm in Him.

Scripture Reading

Hebrews 10:19-39 esv

19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. 26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings,33 sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34 For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. 35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37 For, “Yet a little while,  and the coming one will come and will not delay; 38 but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” 39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

Prayer Prompt

Heavenly Father, thank you for entrusting me with the opportunity to live in this generation. I pray that my heart will always be bold for your truth. Lord, I pray my heart is always reminded that you created me for this time, this was not by mistake, but by a great purpose. I pray that I would dig my heels into where you have me and that I would not miss the opportunities you’ve placed before me to point people to you. God, stir up in me a courageous heart that is on fire for you. Lord, may I always stand firm in my faith and never waver from your truth. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Stand Firm: Standing Firm In Your Faith Against Deception

This 7 day devotional was designed to stir up in you a desire to stand firm in your faith against deception. Throughout the Bible we're told there will be those who desire to lead people astray, lure by deceit, and captive unsteady souls. We as followers of Christ must be armored up, on alert, and ready to hold our position for God's truth as we stand firm for the Kingdom.
