DAY 16: SURRENDER

Prayer Topic: Surrender your life and desires to God's will.

Devotional: Surrender is an act of yielding to God's will and direction. Most of us have seen an episode of the TV series COPS. In that reality show we can often see people on the run from the police. At some point the criminal gives up on running and throws their hands up in the air as a sign of "surrender". This says to the officer, "There is nothing in my hands and I have no intentions of running anymore". In Romans 12:1-2 (NIV), we're urged, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

During this fast, surrender your life and desires to God's will. Allow His transformative work to renew your mind and guide your path. Lift your hands in the air, get on your knees and show the Lord that you are done running and nothing else is in your hands.
