Maranatha! “Our Lord Come!”

In this devotional, we have contemplated the Messiah. Looking into key aspects of who and what He is, as well as His mission and purpose for those who believe. In The Illuminated Messiah Bible, I painted 66 original portraits based on the major messianic theme from each book of the Bible. The process was a five-year devotional that intertwined my art and my faith—five years of theological studies expressed through paint. These paintings are collected in The Illuminated Messiah Bible in an effort to glorify Jesus, our Messiah, and the Word of God with beautiful art.

The Messianic prophecies and their fulfillment all point to Jesus and, in particular, to the cross, so all 66 paintings join together to reveal a hidden portrait of the crucified Messiah. This moment is the signature event in all of human history, but that doesn’t mean that the Messiah’s mission was finished. Our long-promised Messiah lived, died, and rose from the dead before ascending into heaven. All in fulfillment of the scriptures.

Our promised Messiah promised that He would return!

Jesus is coming soon to complete His Messianic purpose, and while every generation has been convinced that He was returning in their lifetime, one thing is certain…His return is closer today than it has ever been! On the second day of this devotional, we learned the astronomical odds of one man fulfilling all the Messianic prophecies. These fulfillments give incredible credibility to Jesus, and the only Messianic prophecies left are the ones regarding His return. He is coming back.

Knowing this, how does it inform your day-to-day living? How does it influence the way you live? Your relationships, conversations, and choices? Does it fill you with joy, peace, faith, or fear? These are things that everyone confronted with Messiah must answer. He is the anointed one, promised long ago to restore the breach between God and mankind, ushering in a new messianic age of peace. The light of the world and Lord of the living and the dead who will come in the clouds riding a white horse to rule and reign forever. Do you know Him? If not, now is your opportunity to place your faith and trust in Jesus!

If you already know Him, now is the time to share Him with another! Behold, our Messiah is coming again!
