LIVE IN TRUTH
Psalm 35:17-28
“This You have seen, O LORD; do not keep silence. O Lord, do not be far from me. Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication to my cause, my God and my Lord. Vindicate me, O LORD my God, according to Your righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.” (Psalm 35:22-24)
Will our journey naturally slip away when we live in truth? It’s not necessarily so because sometimes, what happens is the opposite. We are slandered by people or gossiped about doing negative things. We may not be able to accept such treatment. We become angry and get caught up in the opponent's game.
We can learn something from the Psalmist. If the Psalmist was guilty and deserved the accusation of the enemy, he certainly did not deserve to recite this psalm! That was the reason why he dared to say the following when God established justice and defended himself from his enemies, “Vindicate me, O LORD my God, according to Your righteousness” (verse 24). The Psalmist was convinced that he was on the right side. Therefore he dared to ask God to test him. If God had tested him and he passed the test, then what else could those who slandered him say? Wouldn't their mouths be shut?
We do not need to worry about facing malicious slander or accusations. God will defend us as long as we are right before Him. Don't be in a hurry to defend yourself with your wisdom. It's better to keep quiet and live in the truth. Sometimes God will send other people to defend us. The falsehood of the crimes accused by our enemies will then be exposed.
Reflection:
1. Have you ever received malicious accusations or slander against yourself?
2. What is your attitude when you face malicious slander or accusations against you?
Application:
When the evil one accuses you of something that is not true, don't defend yourself – God will defend you!
