Stretched Out: Finding Rest in His Presenceדוגמה
Unload The Weight
It’s time to disconnect from some of those who do nothing but suck you dry like a parasite. We hear so much about "cutting this one off", and "cutting that one off", because they bring toxicity into our lives for whatever the reason may. All we know is that when they show up, toxic fumes usher them in! Oftentimes, they have no intention of giving anything, or of any form of reciprocity at any time now or in the future. They literally are just there to receive. Yes, they are a weight.
Some people are just not in the position of giving or reciprocating love, understanding, support, and the like, and that’s ok.... for a season.... not a lifetime. Perhaps it's time for you to do an assessment and ask God who you have in your life that has stayed past their expiration date. Have you allowed it? Then, perhaps you're the reason for the weight.
Everyone must learn to eat for themselves, fish for the group, and help row the boat. We all start out as newborn babes, the neediest of all. Dependent and unable to do much for ourselves, emotionally, spiritually and mentally, but Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13:11, "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Who are you called to? Who is really supposed to be on the boat with you?
Today, I believe that God wants you to consider your journey. Consider how tired you may feel today. Consider the weight of the boat, and ask God to help you take inventory. Who did He send? Who did the enemy send? Who do you have an assignment to? Who has worn out their welcome and is weighing the boat down and is unwilling to fish, clean fish, or cook fish, but wants to eat the fish.
The storm is upon your ship and there’s a Jonah in your boat that is hindering your journey.
Deadweight is weighing you down. Surrender to the stretching.
