Fighting The Good Fightדוגמה
Enduring Until The End
The writer of Hebrews ties perseverance with obeying the will of the Lord, and reminds us that the inheritance of God is for those who prioritize His will in this age. Jesus described much of the same in Matthew 5:1-12, and explicitly told the disciples that love for Him is reflected in obedience to Him (John 14:15). Scripture likens doing “good works” (Ephesians 2:10; Colossians 1:10) to worship. We obey Jesus because we love Jesus and want to honor Him with our lives. He makes our hearts burn (Luke 24:32), and thus our lives become a testimony of worship through our obedience to His commands.
Paul urges us in Galatians 6:9 to not grow weary of obeying Jesus—of doing “good works”—and ties not growing weary with reaping a harvest. God chose us to bear good fruit (John 15:16), and warned that those who do not bear fruit are like an unfruitful tree, which will be cut down and thrown into the fire (Matthew 7:19).
Persevering in good works despite difficulty and fatigue is an appropriate response to the grace of God given to us in Jesus, trusting in His goodness and faithfulness to lead and guide us. We can trust Him today that He is not unjust to forget a single act of obedience (Hebrews 6:10).
