O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God. See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.” With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you— the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Byblos, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre. Even Assyria has joined them to reinforce Lot’s descendants. Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, who perished at Endor and became like dung on the ground. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, “Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God.” Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like chaff before the wind. As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze, so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm. Cover their faces with shame, LORD, so that they will seek your name. May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace. Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD— that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God! For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads. They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones. They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!” For they conspire with one accord; against you they make a covenant— the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; Asshur also has joined them; they are the strong arm of the children of Lot. Selah Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, who were destroyed at En-dor, who became dung for the ground. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, “Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God.” O my God, make them like whirling dust, like chaff before the wind. As fire consumes the forest, as the flame sets the mountains ablaze, so may you pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane! Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O LORD. Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; let them perish in disgrace, that they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth.

O God, do not be silent! Do not be deaf. Do not be quiet, O God. Don’t you hear the uproar of your enemies? Don’t you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up? They devise crafty schemes against your people; they conspire against your precious ones. “Come,” they say, “let us wipe out Israel as a nation. We will destroy the very memory of its existence.” Yes, this was their unanimous decision. They signed a treaty as allies against you— these Edomites and Ishmaelites; Moabites and Hagrites; Gebalites, Ammonites, and Amalekites; and people from Philistia and Tyre. Assyria has joined them, too, and is allied with the descendants of Lot. Interlude Do to them as you did to the Midianites and as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River. They were destroyed at Endor, and their decaying corpses fertilized the soil. Let their mighty nobles die as Oreb and Zeeb did. Let all their princes die like Zebah and Zalmunna, for they said, “Let us seize for our own use these pasturelands of God!” O my God, scatter them like tumbleweed, like chaff before the wind! As a fire burns a forest and as a flame sets mountains ablaze, chase them with your fierce storm; terrify them with your tempest. Utterly disgrace them until they submit to your name, O LORD. Let them be ashamed and terrified forever. Let them die in disgrace. Then they will learn that you alone are called the LORD, that you alone are the Most High, supreme over all the earth.

Do not be deaf, God; do not be quiet.  See how your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have acted arrogantly.  , They devise clever schemes against your people; they conspire against your treasured ones.  They say, “Come, let’s wipe them out as a nation so that Israel’s name will no longer be remembered.”  For they have conspired with one mind; they form an alliance  against you   — the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,  Moab and the Hagrites,  Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek,  Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre.  Even Assyria has joined them; they lend support  to the sons of Lot.  , Selah Deal with them as you did with Midian,  as you did with Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River.  They were destroyed at En-dor; they became manure for the ground.  Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,  and all their tribal leaders like Zebah and Zalmunna,  who said, “Let’s seize God’s pastures for ourselves.”  Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like straw before the wind.  As fire burns a forest, as a flame blazes through mountains,  so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm.  Cover their faces with shame so that they will seek your name,  LORD.  Let them be put to shame and terrified forever; let them perish in disgrace.  May they know that you alone — whose name is the  LORD  — are the Most High over the whole earth.

O my God, make them like a wheel; As the stubble before the wind. As the fire burneth a wood, And as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; So persecute them with thy tempest, And make them afraid with thy storm. Fill their faces with shame; That they may seek thy name, O LORD. Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; Yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, Art the Most High over all the earth.

Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, Who said, “Let us take for ourselves The pastures of God for a possession.” O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like the chaff before the wind! As the fire burns the woods, And as the flame sets the mountains on fire, So pursue them with Your tempest, And frighten them with Your storm. Fill their faces with shame, That they may seek Your name, O LORD. Let them be confounded and dismayed forever; Yes, let them be put to shame and perish, That they may know that You, whose name alone is the LORD, Are the Most High over all the earth.

GOD, don’t shut me out; don’t give me the silent treatment, O God. Your enemies are out there whooping it up, the God-haters are living it up; They’re plotting to do your people in, conspiring to rob you of your precious ones. “Let’s wipe this nation from the face of the earth,” they say; “scratch Israel’s name off the books.” And now they’re putting their heads together, making plans to get rid of you. Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia and the Tyrians, And now Assyria has joined up, Giving muscle to the gang of Lot. Do to them what you did to Midian, to Sisera and Jabin at Kishon Brook; They came to a bad end at Endor, nothing but dung for the garden. Cut down their leaders as you did Oreb and Zeeb, their princes to nothings like Zebah and Zalmunna, With their empty brags, “We’re grabbing it all, grabbing God’s gardens for ourselves.” My God! I’ve had it with them! Blow them away! Tumbleweeds in the desert waste, charred sticks in the burned-over ground. Knock the breath right out of them, so they’re gasping for breath, gasping, “GOD.” Bring them to the end of their rope, and leave them there dangling, helpless. Then they’ll learn your name: “GOD,” the one and only High God on earth.

They make shrewd plans against Your people, And conspire together against Your treasured ones. They have said, “Come, and let’s wipe them out as a nation, So that the name of Israel will no longer be remembered.” For they have conspired together with one mind; They make a covenant against You: The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites; Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assyria also has joined them; They have become a help to the children of Lot. Selah ¶Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera and Jabin at the river of Kishon, Who were destroyed at En-dor, Who became like dung for the ground. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, And all their leaders like Zebah and Zalmunna, Who said, “Let’s possess for ourselves The pastures of God.” ¶My God, make them like the whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind. Like fire that burns the forest, And like a flame that sets the mountains on fire, So pursue them with Your heavy gale, And terrify them with Your storm. Fill their faces with dishonor, So that they will seek Your name, LORD. May they be ashamed and dismayed forever, And may they be humiliated and perish, So that they will know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, Are the Most High over all the earth.

Do not keep silent, O God; Do not hold Your peace or be still, O God. For behold, Your enemies are in tumult, And those who hate You have raised their heads [in hatred of You]. [Acts 4:25, 26] They concoct crafty schemes against Your people, And conspire together against Your hidden and precious ones. They have said, “Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation; Let the name of Israel be remembered no more.” For they have conspired together with one mind; Against You they make a covenant— The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Of Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre. Assyria also has joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot [the Ammonites and the Moabites] and have been an arm [of strength] to them. Selah. ¶Deal with them as [You did] with Midian, As with Sisera and Jabin at the brook of Kishon, [Judg 4:12-24] Who were destroyed at En-dor, Who became like dung for the earth. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb And all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, [Judg 7:23-25; 8:10-21] Who said, “Let us possess for ourselves The pastures of God.” ¶O my God, make them like whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind [worthless and without substance]. Like fire consumes the forest, And like the flame sets the mountains on fire, So pursue them with Your tempest And terrify them with [the violence of] Your storm. Fill their faces with shame and disgrace, That they may [persistently] seek Your name, O LORD. Let them be ashamed and dismayed forever; Yes, let them be humiliated and perish, That they may know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, Are the Most High over all the earth.

O God, do not be silent! Do not ignore us! Do not be inactive, O God! For look, your enemies are making a commotion; those who hate you are hostile. They carefully plot against your people, and make plans to harm the ones you cherish. They say, “Come on, let’s annihilate them so they are no longer a nation! Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more.” Yes, they devise a unified strategy; they form an alliance against you. It includes the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre. Even Assyria has allied with them, lending its strength to the descendants of Lot. (Selah) Do to them as you did to Midian – as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River! They were destroyed at Endor; their corpses were like manure on the ground. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, “Let’s take over the pastures of God!” O my God, make them like dead thistles, like dead weeds blown away by the wind! Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides, chase them with your gale winds, and terrify them with your windstorm. Cover their faces with shame, so they might seek you, O LORD. May they be humiliated and continually terrified! May they die in shame! Then they will know that you alone are the LORD, the sovereign king over all the earth.
