The Jesus Mark Wants You to Know - 28 Days to Become More Intimate With JesusEsimerkki
Day 21 - Mark 11:21-33
Believing Prayer
When the disciples saw the effect of Jesus’ curse on the fig tree, they were amazed that the tree actually withered and died. He said to them, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours.”
This would seem like an outlandish careless promise, had Jesus not put a condition on it, i.e. you must not be holding anything against anyone.
In other words, be forgiving and walk in love for God and others. And of course the key to having the prayer answered is that you truly believe you have received it. But often when we think we fully believe it, we give up because the prayer does not seem to get answered, at least on our timeline. However, if what we pray for is in line with God's will, purpose and character, we can expect God will answer.
His authority in making these claims was challenged by those who did not believe His teaching nor His messiahship. But the authority of Jesus is final!
Do you truly believe that Jesus has all authority and that what Jesus taught us can be believed and acted on? Having met the conditions, are you praying for something now while staying expectant that God is answering your request?
