Four Steps to Model Christ at Work: Step Two
A Gospel Coalition article by Miranda Carls provides four steps to improve your experience at work and to represent Christ more fully. The second step in this series is to defend your faith.
The workplace is full of skeptics of the Christian faith. If you’re not prepared to defend your beliefs, you may inadvertently undermine your credibility.
You don’t need to be a biblical scholar, but you do need to understand the basic beliefs of Christianity.
1 Peter 3:15 says, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”
If you can’t defend your views in a coherent way, you will lack credibility. Consider a study on Christian apologetics.
Questions for Reflection
- When defending the Bible, consider your audience. What is their worldview? What do they accept as truth, and how does that overlap with your beliefs? How can you build off of your shared values?
- Can you sum up the main points of Christianity into a coherent thought? Think of a few of the main issues people have with Christianity. What is the Biblical response to those questions? And how might you articulate it without diminishing the truth or provoking a fight?
