From Burned Out to BlessedEsimerkki
Behave like a creationist
If you want to avoid a physical, emotional, and spiritual crash, start at the beginning of the Bible. In the very first half of the very first verse of the very first book of the Bible, there is a blessing that will help you avoid burnout. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created.” Don’t miss the implication of that statement.
Creators create the rules for their creation. Why do fish live in the water and die on the land? Because the Creator created them with gills. Why do eagles fly better than beagles? Because the Creator created them with wings instead of four legs. Fish and birds, and dogs don’t get to decide what they are or how their bodies work. Instead, they follow the rules that their Creator created them with.
That same principle applies to you. Thanks to the insights of biologists and nutritionists, we know more than ever about the rules that our Creator created for our bodies. Just as we know that we weren’t made to fly, we also know that we weren’t made for skimping on sleep, sitting all day, and eating whatever we want. No, we were made for work/exercise, a balance of the right foods, and significant amounts of rest.
One of the ways that express our belief in creation is to behave like a creationist. So the next time you go to the doctor, listen carefully. He or she just might be reminding you of something very spiritual, namely, the details of your Creator’s greatest creation.
