WORSHIP

What happens when we worship?

Worship, in particular, is a personal and corporate discipline. It is about ascribing worth. Revelation 4 gives us a beautiful picture of heaven worshipping.

We worship because He is worthy! Yet when we worship, it also has a profound effect on us! The Bible tells us it another way where God promises to encounter us. It draws us closer to His heart and creates a pathway for us to spend time with Him. Romans 12 says,

offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

When your whole life is given to God in worship, you can experience Him in every area.

Sung worship and worship through music is a theme throughout the Bible and is a great way to re-center, focus, gain a heavenly perspective, switch off distractions and spend time honoring and thanking Him. So often, when we spend time in worship, an exchange can happen. We give God our worry and receive faith, give Him our fear and receive hope, and we let go of the chaos and receive His peace. Maybe you don’t consider yourself a great singer, but that’s ok. It’s not about singing or performance; it’s about honoring God and giving Him the worship He deserves. Ephesians 5 encourages us to “sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.”

Spend some time in worship today. Worship music has never been more accessible. Try streaming sites like Youtube. Find a space in your day, put on a worship song, think about the words, and set your attention on Him. Doing this regularly will greatly impact your experience of God during your week.
