How to Stop Self-Sabotaging Your SuccesEsimerkki
Stepping out from our mindsets of self-sabotage requires a few core ingredients:
- Bold Faith
- A clear vision, coupled with an action plan
- Being Tenacious (not letting go of the dream until you reach it)
We sometimes refer to continued failure as generational curses, but many times it is merely learned behavior. For example, If you grew up in an abusive home and are now struggling with anger, you copy what was modeled to you. If either of your parents made rash decisions and moved from one job to another, and now you do the same, it is not a generational curse per se; it can be because that is what you have always seen. Do not lose heart, however; you do not have to be a victim of circumstances any longer. Maturity comes from taking responsibility for your own life.
Is it even possible to get back on track after making a series of wrong choices, which left you confident that you are never going to be able to recover? Yes! How you may ask? Start making a series of correct decisions that will lead you towards your preferred future.
Step one: Take stock of your current situation
You might have been so harsh to yourself for the longest time. Are you critical of everything you say, how you look, the way you talk… there is no need for you to have adversaries since you are your own most prominent rival. Stop that today! Start acknowledging that you are trying. Pat yourself on the back when doing something scary. Laugh at yourself when you say something quirky. See failed attempts as a learning curve, not a fatal failure. Look yourself in the mirror and compliment yourself. Study every part of your body, yes, the wrinkles, stretch marks, scars, grey hairs, flaws, the works. Acknowledge that life has taken you through some valley seasons, but then congratulate yourself for coming this far. Every scar means that you overcame a battle; every stretch mark might signify that you brought a child into the world or you’ve transformed in some manner. Every grey hair and wrinkle means that you have been granted more time on this earth to live and enjoy life and your loved ones. You have breath in your lungs, which means that you can still make a difference in people’s lives.
Step two: Affirmations
You might still feel like the same you, who started with a plan on stopping your self-sabotaging ways, yet, God has been working in the background, and He is orchestrating your breakthrough.
Until you believe who God says you are, you need to affirm yourself. Many would refer to affirmations as “fake it till you make it”, but words carry immense power, and you become what your mouth speaks and your heart believes.
Say the following positive statements daily: You can change them or add as many as you like. These are just examples:
• I am fearfully and wonderfully made
• I have been born with a destiny
• God will make my name famous as I pursue His purpose
• I have a brilliant mind
• I have creative ideas and solutions to the problems this world
is facing
• The fruit of my womb is fruitful
• I am strong and resilient
• Giving up is not an option
• I am fully persuaded that God who started the good work in
me shall see it come to completion
• I am wealthy
• I am healthy
• I have a sound mind
• My children are blessed
• My best days are ahead of me
Reflect in Prayer
Thank you Jesus that I can boldly walk towards the destiny that You have prepared for me. Birth within me great faith to run my race with endurance. I am thankful for who You created me to be. Amen
