READING THE BIBLE
God is described in the Book of Amos as “He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness and treads on the heights of the earth. The Lord God Almighty is his name.” (Amos 4:13) My God is an awesome God. He is worthy of all fear and praise. He is the Creator, Yahweh, Lord of Heaven and Earth. He is my Saviour, The Lamb of God. My King and Comforter, my Shepherd and Friend. He is the Lord Jesus Christ, my hope, my truth, my light and my life. He is the lover of my soul, who has saved me and filled me with His Holy Spirit to guide and convict me, to never leave me or forsake me until I walk into eternity with Him. This is my God. This is our God
And yet, we don’t always seek Him. We harden our heart against His Word, we don’t read His word to listen to Him or to seek our Father but instead to tick a box, a work. But we have hope because we know that He pours out His love and grace abundantly on us, He lavishes forgiveness on us (1 Timothy 1:14, Ephesians 1:7-8). So repent with me and turn our hearts to the Father. Delight in His Word, meditate on it day and night (Psalm 1). Take it seriously, apply it, follow it, know it. Let the Word of God dwell richly in our lives, hearts and minds (Colossians 3:16). Philippians 2:12 tells us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, so let us immerse ourselves in the Word of God so that we hear His voice, so that we would know His will for our lives and so that our hearts would be transformed by His grace. Jesus loves me this I know, for the bible tells me so. May all praise and glory be His.
