Focus: Guidance of the Holy Spirit

Foundation Scripture: Galatians 5:16-18 NLT

Prayer Points:
1. Recognize the Holy Spirit
2. Receive the Holy Spirit.
3.Yield to or Follow the Holy Spirit by the Word of God.
4. Pray for Sunday Service

No one wants to live near a grave or do anything associated with them. Well, I have good news for you today, Jesus is not in the grave. You can visit the graves of other religious leaders, past presidents, and historical figures. You can visit the graves of past loved ones, but you cannot visit the burial place of the greatest man that ever lived, Jesus Christ, because he rose from the dead and is alive today.

Grave - an excavation made in the earth in which to bury a dead body.

Two points I want you to take away from this series:

1. Dead to sin.
2. Alive to God

3. Buried To Be Raised Up.

a. Raised from the dead by the glory of God.

Let’s look at two words:

1. By- the Greek word is Dia. It carries a multitude of meanings, but in this case it means “by the means of” or “As a result of.”

So, what we have so far is Christ was raised from the dead as a result of the glory of God.

2. Glory- the Greek word doxa. Meaning dignity, honour, praise, worship.

Jesus Christ was raised from the dead as a result of GOD’S DIGNITY, HONOUR, PRAISE, WORSHIP.

Or as one theologian put it “Jesus’ death was so perfect, so complete, and so fulfilling that God Himself shouts AMEN! And the stone rolled away!”

And if children - If adopted into his family.

Then heirs - That is, he will treat us as sons and daughters. An heir is one who succeeds to an estate.

Heirs of God - This expression means that we shall be partakers of that inheritance which God confers on his people. That inheritance is his favor here, and eternal life hereafter.

And joint heirs with Christ - Christ is by eminence the “Son of God.” As such, he is heir to the full honors on earth and glory of heaven. Christians who are united to him enjoy the same benefits.
