DAY 5 OF 31

A Prayer to Heal Damaged Emotions

“The Hebrew word rophe means ‘heal,’ ‘cure,’ ‘restore,’ or ‘make whole.’ Shortly after His people left Egypt for the Promised Land, God revealed Himself as Yahweh Rophe, ‘The Lord who heals.’… Rather than merely healing the body, Yaweh Rophe heals the mind and soul as well.” –Ann Spangler (See Exod. 15:26)

Dear Yahweh Rophe,

I acknowledge that you are the God who heals. In the name of Jesus, I pray over the damaged emotions, feelings of shame, hurt and bitterness within each victim of human trafficking. You anointed Jesus and sent Him to bind up and heal their broken hearts and to release them from darkness. (Isa. 61:1) In the name of Jesus I pray they would choose to forgive all those who have wronged them in any way, so that they will be set free from the bondage of bitterness. (Matt. 6:14-15; Eph. 4:31-32) I also pray they would confess their sins so that they might be healed. (James 5:16) Surely you took up their infirmities and carried their sorrows.

The punishment that brought them peace was upon you, and the wounds you endured heal them! (Isa. 53:4-5) Bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. Let them be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. (Isa. 61:3) In Jesus name, amen.
