Kids Who Are Wise Beyond Their Years Sample
A Day in the Life of the Shunammite’s Son
My mom has an amazing friend. You see, she set up a guest room for this prophet named Elisha and whenever he travels through the area, he stops for the night. In fact, this prophet predicted my birth. My dad was old and my mom thought she wouldn’t ever have a child. Sure enough, I was born just like the prophet predicted and my mom was elated.
So, let me tell you about today. It’s a pretty spectacular story. Earlier today, I was out with the reapers when I felt a terrible pain in my head. I told my father and he instructed a servant to carry me home to my mother. I sat on her lap until noon and then I died right there in her arms.
How did my mom respond? She later told me what happened. She got right up and laid me down on the prophet’s bed. Then she immediately called my father and asked for a donkey so she could visit the prophet. My dad was confused, but he obliged and provided a donkey for her travels. She saddled the donkey and said to her servant, “Lead on; don’t slow down for me unless I tell you.” So she set out and came to Mount Carmel where the prophet was. When she reached him, she took hold of his feet and told him about my death. My mom persisted until he came with her.
She said that the prophet came back to our home and saw me lying dead on his bed. He came in and they shut the door. They cried out to God. Then he laid down on top of me! He put his mouth to my mouth, his eyes to my eyes, and his hands to my hands. He literally stretched himself over me. My mom said that my body started to warm up. She said the Elisha got up again and walked back and forth in the house. Then he stretched himself over me again! Here’s where my memory comes back.
I woke up sneezing! I sneezed 7 times and then opened my eyes. What a shock! I looked around to see the prophet Elisha praising God! He called for my mother and she came and fell at his feet, worshipping God for His healing.
I’m forever grateful for this traveling prophet. The next time he comes, I’m going to have him tell my favorite story—the day God rose me from the dead!
