Gifts From God: Devotions From Time of GraceNäide

God's People Gifts: Children
Having a child wrenches your life into a completely different direction, doesn’t it? A little one seems so helpless and needy, an out-of-control alimentary canal with no responsibility at either end. Children take your stuff and break your stuff. They are expensive and exhausting; they fight your guidance and live like pigs.
And yet. What magic the Lord works in the lives of people to whom he gives these little ones! Psalm 127:3 says, “Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.” Yep. A reward! A sign that he likes you! Despite the cost, aggravation, and burden, children are truly God’s gifts. They bring wonder and innocence, laughter and curiosity, motion and commotion. They help tired and cynical adults rediscover their imagination and naïveté of old.
Children give us a daily opportunity to love and be loved, surely one of the greatest reasons for being alive. And they love stories about a kind heavenly Father, a risen Savior, and the mysterious Spirit who lives within them.
