Joy in Serving: Devotions From Time of Grace MinistryNäide

My Church: Wait for God’s reward
Why do husbands and wives not serve each other more willingly? Why do people hesitate to volunteer for ministry and social projects at church? One guess: they expect an insufficient reward. It just doesn’t seem worth their time and energy.
Here is where church leaders can show some leadership: in clearly outlining what needs to be done, in ceaseless recruiting to bring in new talent, in training and encouraging, and in constant thanking.
But God’s people can find joy in serving even when their leaders seem disorganized, when the same people seem to get stuck with the same jobs, and when nobody says thank you. We can always remember that we’re really working for God and that labor is never in vain. “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6,7).
God always pays off. Always.
