The moment we confess Jesus as Lord over our lives, we are justified—the debt of our sin has been paid. Though the debt is paid, the weight and consequence of our sin, in comparison to the holiness of God, remains. It’s tempting to go about our lives shuffling through self-care routines and self-help books, disconnected from this spiritual reality: Growth and Wisdom come from knowing God. Many believers and non-believers, alike, know about God, but we are called to know God personally. The Bible is the primary way in which we do both: know about God, and know God. Understanding and meditating on the attributes of God allows us to see the bigger picture. The exciting thing? We can seek after God our entire lives and still continue to find new things. The Bible has been given to us as a gift so that even in our finite understanding, we can learn about the infinite, Creator God. The decision is ours. There is no better way to glorify God with our lives than to have a heart surrendered to seek after Him.
