Platforms vs. Pillars

DAY 1 OF 7

As an artist, I’ve performed on many stages–some sturdier than others. In remote Indian villages, makeshift platforms can feel like a disaster waiting to happen. I’ve been scared to jump or dance on such ramps, imagining the viral videos if the stage collapses and I plummet down.🤪 YouTube is full of such fails!

That’s the thing about platforms—they’re useful tools but unreliable foundations.

In our platform-driven world, social and digital platforms shape how we see others and ourselves. For example, it is almost impossible to imagine our world without social media. Platforms let you stand out, be seen, and make an impact. Nowadays, people even make a living from being ‘professional platforms’ as influencers!

Platforms are a great way to share the gospel and bring hope, love, and joy to the world, and we need platforms! Most of our readers found us through social media platforms 🤗

However, like those shaky stages, platforms are temporary and fragile, as easily and quickly demolished as they are built. They don’t provide a long, solid, and lasting foundation.

The Bible offers something better: to become pillars instead of chasing platforms.

The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. – Revelation 3:12

What comes to mind when you think of a pillar? Strength? Stability? Make a list because this week, we’ll explore together what it means to be a pillar instead of a platform.
