DAY 36 OF 40

Week 6: Find Hope

Welcome to the final week of Unhooked. Last week, you got equipped to create healthy connections with others—which frees you to move forward with hope. As this series draws to a close, give yourself permission to get excited about the future. Spend this week embracing the hope that makes trusting God possible.

Day 36: Knowledge

Read

You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail. –Proverbs 19:21

Connect

While the disciples crossed a lake with Jesus, they worried.

They only had one loaf of bread left in the boat and none of them had remembered to bring more food.

“Why are you worried about having no bread?” Jesus asked in Mark 8:17. “Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in?”

The disciples hadn’t only forgotten food. They’d also forgotten what they had already witnessed: God’s provision.

They may have thought they would run out of food, but they had no reason to worry—and they had every reason to hope.

“’You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear?’ Don’t you remember anything at all? When I fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up afterward?” Jesus asked in Mark 8:18–19.

“Twelve,” the disciples answered.

Then Jesus asked how many baskets of food were left when He fed 4,000 with seven loaves.

“Seven,” they said.

Over and over, Jesus had made the impossible possible. He always provided when people’s plans fell through. He always knew what the disciples didn’t know yet—the purpose for everything they went through.

He knows the purpose of what you’ve been through, too.

When a relationship doesn’t happen the way you thought it would, when you’re hurt or disappointed by dating, when any of your plans fall through—God has all the knowledge you don’t have yet.

He will share it with you when He needs you to have it.

But in the meantime, He asks you to trust that His plan really is good—and that you also have every reason to hope.

Pray

Lord, I am learning to trust that Your plan for my life is good, even if it doesn’t always make sense to me. It is in believing that I am safe in Your hands that I am able to have hope for my future. Please deepen my hope today.

Reflect

In what ways have you already witnessed God’s provision? In what parts of your life do you believe you will witness His provision in the future? In what parts of your life would you like to have more hope?

About this Plan

Unhooked: Holy in a Hookup World

Take 40 days to look more deeply at the parts of your heart that need to be healed—so you can break the cycle of a broken heart and thrive in your singleness. While intimate relationships are designed to remind you of God’s love for you, living them out in a fallen world often results in wounds. This plan will help you move closer to Christ, in your pursuit of hope and healing.
