Act Like MenNäide
Live for God’s Glory
Every man lives for something. It might be success, recognition, comfort, or power. But God calls us to live for something far greater: His glory. To live for God’s glory means to reflect His character, point others toward Him, and prioritize His will above our own. It’s the highest purpose a man can embrace.
In 1 Corinthians 10:31, Paul reminds us that even the smallest actions—eating and drinking—can be done for God’s glory. This means that every aspect of your life matters to God: how you lead your family, how you treat your coworkers, how you handle your finances, and how you respond to challenges. There is no division between the sacred and the ordinary. When you live with the intention of honoring God, everything becomes an act of worship.
Consider the life of Jesus. Every word He spoke, every miracle He performed, every interaction He had reflected the Father’s glory. Even in His greatest moment of suffering—the cross—Jesus prayed, "Not my will, but Yours be done" (Luke 22:42). This is the ultimate example of living for God’s glory: surrendering your own desires to align with His greater purpose.
Living for God’s glory requires intentionality. First, it means rejecting the temptation to live for yourself. The world will constantly pull you toward selfishness, urging you to prioritize your comfort, ambition, or desires. But a life lived for God is others-focused, rooted in humility and service.
Second, it means seeking God’s will in everything. Ask yourself: “Is what I’m doing right now honoring God? Does it reflect His love, grace, and truth?” This doesn’t mean striving for perfection, but it does mean aiming to represent Christ well in your daily life.
Finally, living for God’s glory means embracing your God-given purpose. He has uniquely gifted and called you to make an impact in your family, church, and community. Don’t underestimate the power of small, faithful acts to reveal God’s greatness.
As we conclude this journey, the question is simple: who will you live for? Will you chase the fleeting rewards of this world, or will you commit to the eternal joy of living for God’s glory? Remember, this isn’t a one-time decision. It’s a daily choice to surrender, serve, and shine for Him.
Challenge: Reflect on one area of your life where you could better live for God’s glory. Is it in your words, your actions, or your priorities? Commit to one change today that aligns your life more closely with His purpose.
Prayer: Father, thank You for creating me with a purpose: to live for Your glory. I confess that I often get distracted by my own desires and ambitions. Help me to surrender my will to Yours and to seek Your glory in everything I do. Teach me to reflect Your love, grace, and truth in my relationships, my work, and my daily choices. I commit my life to You again today, trusting that You will guide me and use me for Your purposes. May everything I do point back to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
