The Bible for Young Explorers: ExodusNäide

Making a waterproof basket
Moses’ mum covered the base of her basket in an oily ‘tar’ known as bitumen. The Egyptians used it to join bricks and mummify bodies. Noah used it on the ark. We still use it to waterproof roofs and ships today.
Moses
Moses was adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter after she found him floating on the Nile. He grew up in the palace as the Prince of Egypt. But after killing an Egyptian who was beating an Israelite slave, Moses went into hiding as a shepherd in the wilderness. There, God appeared to him in a burning bush and told him to go back to Egypt. Despite suffering from anxiety and a speech impediment, Moses learnt to trust God. He stood up to Pharaoh, the bully, and led Israel through the wilderness to the Promised Land.
