A Family of WorshipSample
Worship is our response to God’s grace & mercy.
Worship is our response to recognizing God’s grace and mercy. Mercy is when we don’t receive the punishment or consequences we deserve, but instead, God responds with compassion and grace. Think of someone struggling financially, unsure of how they will make it through the month. Suddenly, they receive an unexpected gift—money that lifts their burden. They didn’t earn it, but it changes their situation. That’s what God’s mercy looks like in our lives.
Imagine a person who has been struggling financially and is doing their best to get by. One day, a friend unexpectedly gifts them a significant amount of money, not because they earned it or asked for it, but simply out of kindness and generosity. This is grace—receiving something good that you didn’t deserve or earn. Just like that, God’s grace gives us blessings and favor, not because of anything we’ve done, but because of His love.
God’s grace and mercy is an undeserved gift, and when we grasp how He has withheld judgment and instead offered forgiveness, it leads us into worship. We can’t help but respond with gratitude and praise. The psalmist invites us to ascribe glory and strength to the Lord, recognizing that His voice, His power, and His mercy are beyond anything we can imagine. It’s not just a quiet acknowledgment, but a call to praise God with everything we have—with instruments, songs, and shouts of joy.
When we praise God, we do so not just because He is great, but because His mercy is great. His compassion towards us is a powerful force that sustains us daily. Worship becomes the natural outflow of realizing that God, in His holiness, chose to be merciful toward us. He didn’t just leave us in our brokenness but provided a way for redemption.
Question for your Family: How can we, as a family, express our gratitude for God’s mercy through daily worship and praise?
Each week, we receive a one-page guide featuring a Bible verse, a worship song, daily questions for family conversations, and a short prayer. This simple resource takes just 25 minutes a day and helps us be A Family of Worship.
