Living in Increase (Part 2) - Increase in LoveSample
Week 4: Love Yourself
Love Yourself
As we enter our last week for Increase in Love, let’s revisit Matthew 22:37-40. These verses have set the pace for our study. We’ve discussed the types of love in the Bible, how to love God, and how to love others. This week, we’ll be talking about how to love ourselves.
“Self-love” is a popular concept in culture today. However, it is actually a biblical concept, as we see in Matthew 22:39. Jesus commands us to “love [our] neighbors as [ourselves].” We cannot love anyone else if we don’t know how to love ourselves.
This week, my goal is to introduce you to some of the things the Bible says about you. When you know your identity in Christ (who God created you to be), I believe you will find it easier to love yourself.
Psalm 139:14 says that we are “awesomely and wonderfully made.” God handcrafted each of us, and our existence is not an accident. God only makes wonderful things (Psalm 139:14), and He made you and me! Remember today that you are God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10), and no two masterpieces are alike. You are one-of-a-kind, and God made you for incredible things!

Action Step: Write out a list of five things you love about yourself. If you can’t come up with five, look at what the Bible says about you, and write those down!
