 <div class="label">20</div><div class="s2">Abraham and Abimelech</div><div class="p"> 1And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. 2And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 3But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife. 4But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? 5Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. 6And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. 7Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.</div><div class="p"> 8Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. 9Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. 10And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? 11And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake. 12And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. 13And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. 14And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. 15And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee. 16And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.</div><div class="p"> 17So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. 18For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.</div>

 <div class="label">21</div><div class="s1">Isaac</div><div class="p"> 1And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. 2For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. 4And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. 6And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. 7And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.</div><div class="p"> 8And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned. 9And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking. 10Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. 11And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son. 12And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. 13And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.</div><div class="p"> 14And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba. 15And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs. 16And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept. 17And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation. 19And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. 20And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer. 21And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.</div><div class="p"> 22And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest: 23now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned. 24And Abraham said, I will swear. 25And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away. 26And Abimelech said, I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to day. 27And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant. 28And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves. 29And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves? 30And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well. 31Wherefore he called that place Beer-sheba; because there they sware both of them. 32Thus they made a covenant at Beer-sheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.</div><div class="p"> 33And Abraham planted a grove in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God. 34And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days.</div>

A reed shaken with the wind? 8But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. 9But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 10For this is he, of whom it is written,</div><div class="q1"> Behold, I send my messenger before thy face,</div><div class="q1"> Which shall prepare thy way before thee.</div><div class="m"> 11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. 13For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.</div><div class="p"> 16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, 17and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. 18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. 19The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.</div><div class="s1">Jesus and His Opponents</div><div class="p"> 20Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: 21Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. 23And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.</div><div class="s2">The Hidden Revelation</div><div class="p"> 25At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. 26Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. 27All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.</div><div class="p"> 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.</div>

 <div class="label">11</div><div class="q1"> 1A false balance is abomination to the LORD:</div><div class="q2">But a just weight is his delight.</div><div class="q1"> 2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame:</div><div class="q2">But with the lowly is wisdom.</div><div class="q1"> 3The integrity of the upright shall guide them:</div><div class="q2">But the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.</div><div class="q1"> 4Riches profit not in the day of wrath:</div><div class="q2">But righteousness delivereth from death.</div><div class="q1"> 5The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way:</div><div class="q2">But the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.</div><div class="q1"> 6The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them:</div><div class="q2">But transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.</div><div class="q1"> 7When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish:</div><div class="q2">And the hope of unjust men perisheth.</div><div class="q1"> 8The righteous is delivered out of trouble,</div><div class="q2">And the wicked cometh in his stead.</div><div class="q1"> 9An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour:</div><div class="q2">But through knowledge shall the just be delivered.</div><div class="q1"> 10When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth:</div><div class="q2">And when the wicked perish, there is shouting.</div><div class="q1"> 11By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted:</div><div class="q2">But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.</div><div class="q1"> 12He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour:</div><div class="q2">But a man of understanding holdeth his peace.</div><div class="q1"> 13A talebearer revealeth secrets:</div><div class="q2">But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.</div><div class="q1"> 14Where no counsel is, the people fall:</div><div class="q2">But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.</div><div class="q1"> 15He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it:</div><div class="q2">And he that hateth suretiship is sure.</div><div class="q1"> 16A gracious woman retaineth honour:</div><div class="q2">And strong men retain riches.</div><div class="q1"> 17The merciful man doeth good to his own soul:</div><div class="q2">But he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.</div><div class="q1"> 18The wicked worketh a deceitful work:</div><div class="q2">But to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.</div><div class="q1"> 19As righteousness tendeth to life:</div><div class="q2">So he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.</div><div class="q1"> 20They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD:</div><div class="q2">But such as are upright in their way are his delight.</div><div class="q1"> 21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished:</div><div class="q2">But the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.</div><div class="q1"> 22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout,</div><div class="q2"> So is a fair woman which is without discretion.</div><div class="q1"> 23The desire of the righteous is only good:</div><div class="q2"> But the expectation of the wicked is wrath.</div><div class="q1"> 24There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth;</div><div class="q2">And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.</div><div class="q1"> 25The liberal soul shall be made fat:</div><div class="q2">And he that watereth shall be watered also himself.</div><div class="q1"> 26He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him:</div><div class="q2">But blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.</div><div class="q1"> 27He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour:</div><div class="q2">But he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.</div><div class="q1"> 28He that trusteth in his riches shall fall:</div><div class="q2">But the righteous shall flourish as a branch.</div><div class="q1"> 29He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind:</div><div class="q2">And the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.</div><div class="q1"> 30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life;</div><div class="q2">And he that winneth souls is wise.</div><div class="q1"> 31Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth:</div><div class="q2">Much more the wicked and the sinner.</div><div class="b"></div>
