Fruit of the Spirit Christmas PlanSample
Day 2: Joy
“But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people ...” (Luke 2:10)
“Then he said to them, “Go and eat what is rich, drink what is sweet, and send portions to those who have nothing prepared, since today is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, because the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
God’s Plan: Joy goes beyond mere happiness, anchoring in God's presence and His promises, regardless of circumstances. Through the Spirit, God provides an enduring joy that sustains us, making us resilient and drawing others to the gospel as they witness our peace and contentment in Christ.
Description: A deep-seated sense of happiness and contentment that comes from faith in God, regardless of circumstances.
Activity idea: Joy Dance Party
Create a joyful atmosphere by playing upbeat music and having a family/group dance party in your living room.
A Joy Dance Party is a great way to have fun and build joyful connections! Dancing to upbeat music releases energy, boosts happiness, and encourages self-expression. This activity allows everyone to bond through movement, music, and laughter.
Clear a space in your living room so there’s plenty of room for everyone to move around safely. Provide fun props, such as scarves for swirling or hats for dressing up, to inspire creativity and movement. Encourage family members to dress in colorful, playful outfits to make the party feel special.
Prepare a playlist of upbeat songs that are age-appropriate and encourage everyone to get moving. Mix in songs with different tempos and styles to keep the energy fun and dynamic. Include family favorites, and let everyone help choose songs to make them feel involved.
Take a moment to talk about which dance moves were the funniest or which songs everyone loved the most.
Example of Fruit in everyday life: Maintaining a positive outlook during tough times, encouraging others, and celebrating small victories in life.
Arts and crafts: Joy Jars
Decorate small jars and fill them with notes of things that bring joy (family memories, favorite activities, etc.). Share them at family/group gatherings.
Eating together: Colorful Fruit Salad
Prepare a vibrant fruit salad using a variety of colorful fruits, celebrating the joy of variety and sweetness.
Today’s Prayer: Grant me the gift of joy today. May it fill my heart and radiate to those around me. Help me to find joy in simple moments and share it with others.

About this Plan
Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to make this season spiritually meaningful by giving and receiving gifts that last, gifts that bring joy to others and leave a lasting impact on our hearts. After all, we celebrate the kingdom of Christ and the redemptive story and are reminded of the greatest gift we have ever received, namely Jesus Christ. What a stunning, overwhelming, amazing, incomprehensible, and great Gift it is! His best gift to us is our redemption, but while we are still in this world, He offers us His Spirit to help shape our behaviour and make a difference.
