Abide, Adore, Ask and Agree: 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting With Rock City ChurchSample
DAY 12
Nothing shy of a miracle from God can turn a pile of ashes back into firewood. The firewood went through a change that is irreparable. The same can be said of human beings as a result of sin. Sin leaves us spiritually dead, and dead people can't bring themselves back to life. We need the One who gave us life in the first place to restore us to life.
We can too easily buy the lie that increasing our efforts and good deeds will somehow draw us nearer to God – somehow make the ashes of our lives whole again. But this is in vain! Our efforts result in being completely worn down and going nowhere, like trying to race around a track while standing on a treadmill.
The answer to our dilemma is found outside of ourselves. It is Jesus! God is Jehovah-M'Kaddesh, "The Lord who Sanctifies." He alone can restore what's been destroyed, fill what's been depleted, and make holy what was unholy.
REFLECTION
1. How do you view the process of becoming holy?
2. Do you see Jesus as merely additional support in your efforts to become holy, or are you desperate for Him as your savior?
PRAYER FOCUS
Pray to be made holy.
