THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER Bible Reading PlanSample
Have you ever found yourself facing a challenge that you just didn’t feel up for?
In THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, the Emmanuel Annual 75th Christmas Pageant has been under the steady direction of Mrs. Armstrong for years. But when Mrs. Armstrong breaks both of her legs, the responsibility suddenly falls to Grace. Despite Mrs. Armstrong and the town mothers making it clear they don’t believe Grace is up for the task, she volunteers to direct the pageant.
Things become more complicated when the Herdman children, notorious for their unruly behavior, take over the pageant by securing all the main roles. The church ladies are outraged and pressure Grace to remove them from the pageant. Grace faces a choice: give in to the pressure or trust that God has placed her in this situation for a reason.
Grace wonders if she is equipped for such a daunting task. But instead of backing down, she decides to see it through. Grace decides that the Herdmans deserve a chance to hear and experience the true message of Christmas.
Grace’s decision to give the Herdmans a chance challenges the entire town to rethink their understanding of grace, compassion, and the heart of the Christmas story. God equips those He calls, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- Can you recall a time when you felt overwhelmed by a task or responsibility? How did you see God working in that situation?
- What does it mean to rely on God’s strength rather than your own?
- Grace chose to extend compassion and give the Herdmans a chance, despite the pressure to exclude them. How can you apply this kind of grace in your own life? Are there people or situations where God might be calling you to show unexpected kindness?
