DAY 2 OF 6

Today’s Glories and Tomorrow’s Worries

Every single time I travel or have something exciting happening, the Enemy tries to attack my mind. I remember getting ready to leave for a women’s conference, and out of the blue, the Enemy attacked by filling my mind with insecurity. This spiral led me to question why I was even leaving my family to go to this conference. No matter what I did, I could not seem to pull myself out of it.

So, with my suitcase on the bed still half packed, I sat on the closet floor in silence for five minutes and felt every single emotion of panic. I didn’t fight it. I rode it like a wave, a technique I learned in therapy when I was young.

When peace finally rushed over me, I knew Jesus was there the whole time. I simply needed to stop to feel him. The Enemy wants to keep us busy and worrying because he knows it is harder for us to hear Jesus that way. It was only after that time of silence that I could recognize all the blessings and glories in that day:

  • I had coffee with a friend who spoke truth over me before I traveled.
  • My daughter drew pictures with me before dinner.
  • I got to talk on the phone with my mom and tell her how excited I was for this new adventure.

These were all glories the Enemy tried to hold captive, glories that I would have missed if I had chosen to worry. It is not our first choice to worry, and sometimes it starts so fast that we fall into the cycle before we know what’s happening. Even so, recognizing and denouncing the Enemy’s lies while giving worry to Jesus are the first steps to allowing God in and letting him take that worry off your shoulders.

What worries do you need God to take off your heart? Reflect on the glories he has revealed to you today.

Dear Lord, thank you for all the blessings you have given me. Help me to release my worries to you. Amen.
