The heart is one of the most important organs in the human body. Its beating is what keeps us alive. Without it, our entire system wouldn’t function. It’s vital to our health as a whole. In the same way, our spiritual heart is the cornerstone of our spiritual health. When we became followers of Jesus, He put a new heart in us. He entrusts that heart to our care.
When we’re taking care of it—praying, spending time in God’s Word, worshipping, showing up at church, and generally growing in our faith—it shows in our whole being. Everything about us has changed for the better. But when we’re ignoring our spiritual hearts—when we’re not pursuing God’s best, let sin seep in, allowing ourselves to be pulled away—it negatively impacts our entire lives. Maybe not right away, but eventually, we’ll see evil or unhealthy thoughts, actions, and the like come up again and again and again. That’s what makes caring for our spiritual hearts so incredibly important. If we want our lives to reflect Christ, we have to start with our hearts. We have to keep our hearts fixed on what’s good, true, and right. We have to keep our hearts in God’s care.
Today, do a spiritual heart check! Think about what areas of your heart need God’s help to heal and grow. Pray for God to open your heart to Him in new ways in those places in your life.

About this Plan
Few things in life are more important than breathing. It’s what keeps us going and living. This isn’t a devotional on the science of breathing. Instead, we’re talking about what it looks like to create breathing room in parts of our everyday lives. From faith to finances to friendship to so much more, we’re diving into the benefits of slowing down, pausing, and giving these areas of our lives room to breathe.
