The Power of Your Dreams

DAY 2 OF 5

YOU THE DREAMER

Everyone dreams about two hours each night. Even people born blind can dream with visual imagery. Researchers have discovered we usually have several dreams per night that last from five to twenty minutes. That’s a lot of time to receive messages from God!

God never speaks in vain. His words are always on assignment to bring us into alignment with His will and purpose for our lives. For this reason, He speaks to everyone, believers and unbelievers alike; because we were all created with a purpose. God has a plan for everyone on the earth.

Throughout history, dreams have shaped and impacted lives and cultures. Great dreamers from Scripture include Joseph (Genesis 37: 40—41) and Daniel (Daniel 2: 7).

Even our own Messiah’s life hung in the balance of a dream. After Jesus’s birth, King Herod heard about a child born who was to be “King of the Jews,” and this news troubled him greatly. He viewed the baby as a threat to his kingdom and rulership, so he sought to find the Child to kill Him (Matthew 2:1-8).

God chose to warn Jesus’s caretaker, Joseph, through a dream:

Behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying; “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.” When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt. (Matthew 2:13-14)

As you become curious about your life, the things connected to you, and what God can do through you, you’ll begin to recognize and cherish every day as an opportunity to partner with God through your dreams and be led into truth.

What experiences have you had, up to this point in your life, with dreams that seemed to have divine meaning?
