The Witness of the Holy Spirit

By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. (1 John 4:13, ESV).

The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in our assurance of Salvation. He bears witness in our hearts, affirming that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). This internal witness is accompanied by the external evidence of the Holy Spirit’s Work in our lives, seen through the Fruit of the Spirit in our character and conduct (Galatians 5:22-23). The Presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives confirms that we belong to God and that He is at work within us.

Can you identify the internal and external witnesses of the Holy Spirit in your life, affirming that you are a child of God?

Prayer: Father God, Thank You for the Gift of the Holy Spirit, who bears witness in my heart that I am Yours. I ask for Your Spirit to fill me each day, transforming my character and conduct to reflect the Fruit of the Spirit. May I be sensitive to His leading and confident in His Presence in my life. Thank You for the assurance that I belong to You. In Jesus name, Amen.
