Financial Discipleship – the Bible on Riches & WealthSample

Financial Discipleship – the Bible on Riches & Wealth

DAY 1 OF 5

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”

There is nothing more grave than the message in this verse. To work so hard for money, fame, recognition, diamonds, and power… only for it to amount to nothing.

Think about yourself. Do you find it hard to be present around others because you’re always thinking about more money? Do you feel left out of conversations because you’re always somewhere else? Do you stay home during get-togethers because you’re busy saving for that vacation next year? Do you ever say, “I wish I had more money”?

Sometimes, it just takes a moment for us to realize that most of our lives revolve around money. It’s no surprise. Daily living requires money. Something to eat, a place to live, clothes to wear, things to do. But the story that has yet to be told is the one where someone on their deathbed says, “I wish I had worked more.”

When we know we’re in our last moments, our biggest regret isn’t that we didn’t work hard enough to afford a lavish lifestyle of expensive cars, clothes, and homes. Instead, it’s that we don’t have more time...

More time to do the important things in life. More time to spend with the people we love, cherishing them. More time to mend relationships that were broken. More time to teach others about the lessons to learn early in life. More time to show friends and strangers alike that there is a God, who loves us and cares so much about us that He sent His Son to die for us.

Do you believe in your heart that Jesus is our Lord and Savior? Do you believe that God raised Him from the dead? Then, that will save you (Romans 10:9).

Do you believe God loves you? Do you love Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength? (Luke 10:27). And do you trust Him to seek after the things He has planned for your life, instead of what you want or what your family wants for your life?

Do you love others as He loves you? (Mark 12:31). Do you give freely to them, expecting nothing in return? Do you have compassion for them? Do you have a merciful heart to forgive them?

Your money, house, and material possessions cannot save you any more than they can save the person next to you. Don’t be fooled by the lies people tell you about what living a successful life is. It has nothing to do with the career you achieve, how rich, famous, or powerful you become... but everything to do with living what you believe.

About this Plan

Financial Discipleship – the Bible on Riches & Wealth

The Bible has a lot to say about riches and wealth. Some believers either believe God requires a life of lack or that God shouldn’t have a say in their wealth. Neither could be further from the truth. This 5-day plan will help readers gain a biblical understanding and perspective on riches and wealth, apply it to their lives, and prepare them to share this learning with others.
