IGNITE Your Prayer LifeSample
Day 4: Interceding for Others
Devotional: There was a season when my son struggled with anxiety and fear. He was fearful to be in his room without me. He struggled with separation anxiety and did not have the right words to articulate his feelings. During this time, I would teach how God did not give us a spirit of fear, yet at the tender age of 3 and 4, he struggled. Then I began to pray not just for him but on his behalf. Intercession is a powerful aspect of prayer that allows us to stand in the gap for others. In 1 Timothy 2:1, Paul urges "that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people." Interceding for others reflects God’s love and compassion, bringing their needs before Him and seeking His intervention on their behalf. I’m grateful to have seen my son overcome this struggle and I believe a part of this was due to me interceding when necessary. Today, focus on praying for the needs of others, trusting that your intercession can make a significant difference in their lives.
Reflection Questions:
1. Who in your life needs your prayers today?
2. How can you commit to regularly interceding for others?
Prayer Prompt: Heavenly Father, we stand in the gap and pray for _____________ (list out their names), asking You God to meet their needs and work powerfully in their lives. You know the needs before we even speak but we share in confidence on their behalf. Do it God and do it grand!
