In His Presence

DAY 4 OF 4

Just One Word

Have you ever experienced the need for Jesus to say a word that speaks over your life, that reminds you of His love? The story from the New Testament about the centurion who needed healing for his servant is quite remarkable; this centurion was not a follower of Jesus but understood the power of His words and the authority He was carrying. He said, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.” Matthew 8:8

Recently, I came across a study confirming that mere moments with a friend can profoundly impact them positively. When Jesus died on the cross, He opened the way for each of us to be in God’s presence—an extraordinary gift, as God created us for relationship with Him. In the beginning, God spoke, and life came into being. If it is proved that a friend’s word can bring comfort, imagine what the word of God can do for you and me. The centurion exemplifies in the New Testament how healing can come through just one word.

A single word from God can resurrect what seems lifeless; His word can remind you that there is more for you, that what you call ordinary can become extraordinary.

The centurion took steps to receive that word; he approached Jesus, acknowledged his need, and sought His help. Similarly, we must enter God’s presence, surrender ourselves, and be open to receive His plan for us. I encourage you to seek His presence daily, dedicating the first minutes of your day to diving into His word. No one can do this for you. Just as the centurion approached Jesus, we must draw near Him to receive His life-giving word.

Just one word of Jesus can bring hope and life into what seems dead.

I want to share with you one of the resources that inspired this Bible plan called the “7 Minute Bible Journal.” It is a practical tool to help you get deeper into the presence of God and record His words and faithfulness over your life.
