Abide - John 15Näide

What would it look like for your life to produce fruit?
Psalm 1 likens the righteous to a tree, planted by a stream, which produces its fruit in season. The tree is able to produce its fruit because of its proximity to the life source. The righteous are described as delighting in the Lord’s law, and continually meditating on it.
This is similar to Jesus’ words in John 15 in verses 7 and 10. We must not only “know” the words of Jesus, but allow them to abide in us, allow them to know us. When we do this, we begin to understand how Jesus thinks, feels, moves and our lives begin to look different.
When we look forward to the New Creation, we see that the tree of life produces fruit every single month, and the leaves are for the healing of the nations. Paul says that if anyone is in Christ, we are a foreshadowing in the present of the New Creation to come (2 Corinthians 5:17). We are called to remain in Jesus to such an extent that we always bear fruit.
